Online movie clips

I recently checked the site www.videogirmit.com, this site allows user to upload anything that is Kannada, do check out the site, its pretty neat and simple to use.

In Karnataka, you dont get pirated copies of any of the latest releases, you dont get pirated copies even after a year (I remember I could not get a copy of ApthaMitra even 2 years after the movie was released), so the enforcement is good to avoid pirated copies making it to the market. videogirmit shows the latest movies though, so can the folks running the website run into trouble?

Is it legal to upload clips of movies to sites like youtube and videogirmit. Cant the content owner can always sue the people running these sites. Maybe there are no regulations governing this clause in India currently, else how can youtube have clippings oof most of the movies

Do give videogirmit a visit if you are a Kannadiga, I sincerely hope the latest movies are removed from the site. Their caption is 'kannadigarinda kanndigarige' pretty cool!

Online math tution, does it have potential

Can teaching 2nd PUC math online have potential to make money?
Question : How many students studying 2nd PUC math have easy access to internet? T
o answer the above question...
Total number of students studying 2nd PUC in Karnataka state = 404656 ( Source Karnataka education 2006-2007 )
There are 3 streams in 2nd PUC, Science, Arts and Commerce. Science was the preferred stream when I was studying 2nd PUC, so lets assume the distribution is 40% Science, 60% for Arts and Commerce So total number of students is 160000 ( This is the total target audience).
As the penetration of internet is pretty low in rural Karnataka, we need to consider on the cities namely Bangalore, Mysore, to some extent Mangalore, not sure about the others.
The total students in 2nd PUC math in the above students is approx 100000, so the target is now 40000
So how many students in the 40000 have an internet connection at home, i assume 4-5% max, lets minimize this to 1500.
And how many students in 1500 are willing to go for online tutions, 20% ? = 300
So if I charge 100 per student I make 30000/year
100 per student is 30000/year
But the fact that college students are smart and get copies done overnight for videos available online, can completely kill the venture.
If I plan to make this happen, then it must be for free.

The Satyam fiasco

I remember a time in my engineering days when a few andhra friends travelled to US for their MS studies. They had to show a bank balance for thier visa interviews. So they cut deals with banks, that would show the money for a period of a week in their bank accounts. And this would cost some percentage amount of the total amount shown in the account.
I assume something similar to this has happened in Satyam as well, Ramalinga Raju pays the banks some money, the banks show money in his account and fool a reputed auditing firm like PriceWaterCoopers. So obviously, the 3 entities need to taken to task now,
- Raju and everyone who were aware of this
- The banks for assiting Raju
- PwC for its incompetency ( not sure how they would get punished )
But the investors have lost their money, and all they can do is cry foul, lets see what happens to the large workforce (53K) they have
